Rochetalk Recap Digital Innovation in Healthcare

According to NHS research, the largest changes in healthcare are around telemedicine (medical treatment from a distance), smartphone apps, wearables for diagnosis and monitoring, and gen technology. Mobiquity’s VP Healthcare Marcel Joachimstal Marcel explains in his Rochetalk that digital innovation should always lead to an increase of time spent on and for patients.

Digitization offers new opportunities for collaboration with healthcare partners in every phase of treatment: prevention, care and aftercare. You should incorporate patients in the development of digital innovations. And this needs new ways of thinking and acting to reach new value propositions, to increase the quality of life for any patient.

Joachimstal sees innovation opportunities on macro level:

  • Diagnosis and treatment are currently still often based on a one size fits all model, while patients are all unique. Treatment and medication should focus more on profiles and personal characteristics;
  • Molecular innovation is not enough for proper care for patients. There is a need for human centred innovation on all levels;
  • We need to find friction and resolve it for the end user of any innovation, which are both patients and healthcare professionals.

Mobiquity’s healthcare innovations

Our work with Princess Maxima Center for child oncology resulted in a digital tool supporting the child and family of a child with cancer. It provides information for both parents and the child through clear visualization of the treatment plan & information to better align to the knowledge level and needs of children and parents. Itt gives insights on how to best integrate different treatment phases into daily life in order to improve the transition from hospital to home.

Together with an international company that creates medical devices, we developed the first FDA approved ingestible pill. It resolved bad self management on taking medication for schizophrenic patients by digitally connecting the caretaker and the patient on the medication status in a partially automated manner.

The futuristic sleep mask we made for a healthcare solutions provider, improves people’s sleep. Better sleep helps reduce stress, can improve your memory, lower your blood pressure, and helps your body to fight back in cases of disease.

And we made apps that made it possible to move care from hospitals to patients' homes. Leading to cost reductions for both healthcare institutions as well as for patients, and less stress and trouble that comes with having to travel back and forth to receive treatment.
