Dutch online interior store fonQ is utlitizing AR in their app, as their CMO Jeremiah Albinus sees standards in the market change. Albinus believes retailers will quickly scale up the use of AR. Experimenting with AR will be less expensive, while it shows an increase in conversion already.
Gartner mentioned in 2019 that 46% of retailers will be using AR or VR for enhanced customer experience.
Jeremiah Albinus (CMO, fonQ): “AR will become the product picture”
Buying furniture made easier
After a successful pilot in their app, fonQ decided to implement AR for 750 products, so customers can place them in their own home, virtually. For Albinus it was logical decision: “Following our proposition we look for ways to sell furniture online in a better way. Compared to electronics for example, this can be challenging.” Client research showed a third of the people in the orientation phase were worried about the size of furniture and if it fits in with their current interior. Augmented Reality can take this worry away.
fonQ and ConfigWise.io
fonQ is not the first retailer to use AR, but the results of their test the past 6 months were pretty impressive: a 16% increase in conversion. fonQ decided to partner with cloud based platform ConfigWise.io that creates and hosts 3D and AR models of manufacturers on a cloud platform on which clients can get a subscription to exploit the content for their (SDK) app, 360 viewer or known e-commerce solutions such as Magento and Shopify.
