Mobiquity recently worked with a global company that develops and sells personal care products and dietary supplements to nearly one million independent distributors and preferred customers around the world. The company hosts an annual event for members of its community to network, learn from thought leaders, see new product showcases and demonstrations, and become empowered. For their 2019 event, the company engaged Mobiquity to create a mobile app, which would be downloaded and used by over 12,500 attendees over the multi-day event.
The client wanted to build an engaging app that would extend the live event experience – straight into the hands of attendees via their mobile devices. The mobile app needed to offer attendees all the standard event information, such as a map of the showroom floor and a schedule of the day’s events, but most importantly, it needed to allow users to view and explore products.
One of the client’s primary event goals was to get new products into the market, so the app needed to be a tool that would raise awareness and excitement about the product line, launch new arrivals, and enable sales.
Mobiquity’s experience in creating mobile apps specifically for events was what attracted the client to us and what ultimately led them to choosing Mobiquity as their mobile app development partner.
Mobiquity focused their efforts in three key areas to support the client’s quest to create an exciting, fun, interactive mobile app:
Object Recognition and Machine Learning
New products were displayed around the arena and Mobiquity enabled object recognition and machine learning that allowed users to simply aim their camera at these items or codes to learn more. The mobile app recognized the product, provided further details, and gave attendees the option to purchase on the spot.
Augmented Reality (A/R) Experience
Strategically placed codes and banners around the arena provided another opportunity to reach attendees. By aiming their cameras at those codes or banners, event goers would launch exciting augmented reality (A/R) content, including videos, product demos, and other virtual reality experiences. Mobiquity created an A/R experience for each of the client’s newest products that enabled users to interact with the product, move it around, tap for more information, and even share it with friends on social media.
Mobiquity created stylized QR codes that were used for event entry and product pickup. The client wanted the QR codes to be stylized with branded logos, while also enabling them to obtain and maintain a significant volume of data. Single sign-on (SSO) was another important integration, making it so that users would have a seamless login / registration experience. Mobiquity’s security experts worked closely with the client to ensure that all data was safe and secure. Finally, the client had an existing ecommerce platform that Mobiquity integrated into the event app to enable commercial activity such as product sales. This included their microsite, which held ecommerce, scheduling, registration management, campus maps, and other information that needed to be integrated into the app to bring the event to life on mobile devices.
The event was a huge success. Not only did the client have great engagement from its community, but the event app was also well received, contributing to hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales revenue.
