Transcript:

The digital front door is really very much like the physical front door we walk through when we receive care. Using digital technologies, we can create a virtual version of the physical front door using things like mobile apps, web portals, voice skills, or even chat bots that a patient can initiate and engage in their healthcare journey, providing both convenience, as well as safety, so they can access their provider or other caregiver remotely.

Now this technology has truly been available for a long time, but has not been the primary focus of most healthcare systems. For example, most of the investment that healthcare systems have been making over the past five or so years has been in the physical location, creating, for example, kiosks so that when you go into the hospital, you can check in by using a touchpad. Or when you go to your doctor's office, they may have a digital display sharing information about therapies, about diseases, and other things.

I think what we're going to start to see and have heard from our clients is that that needs to change. With COVID-19, it's really critical to take that kind of investment and refocus it on the virtual front door or the digital front door and rethink about that as a key part of the start of the patient's journey.
