Tips for Successful Digital Transformation: Week #4

Digital touchpoints have never been more important to the success of businesses of all sizes, across just about every industry. Unfortunately, digitally transforming a business can be a daunting task. To help break down the process into more manageable steps, this month we’re bringing you a new tip for digital transformation success for every work day.

Week #4

Congrats - you made it! You’ve completed a digital transformation journey, and now you’re wondering what’s next. In this week’s blog, we’ll explore what happens after your project is done and how you can keep the momentum going.

Day 16  - Prepare yourself for...nothing

Successful digital transformations achieve silent utility. It just works. No feedback (good or bad). Folks are able to have moments of achievement in the silent utility they experience from your team’s work. Enjoy the quiet - it likely means that things are working as they should.

Day 17 - Shake some trees

If you’ve done your job right and have achieved silent utility, your customers may not be proactively reaching out to you. But that doesn’t mean you should rest on your laurels. Continue to seek customer feedback any way you can - through market research, customer satisfaction surveys, your customer service center, or any other feedback channel available to you.

Day 18 - Plan for iteration

Once you’ve sought customer feedback, don’t ignore it. Not all changes need to be transformational. If there are smaller, iterative changes that you can make to improve your customer’s experiences, tackle them as they come up - don’t wait until change is an absolute necessity. Delight customers with helpful updates as opportunities present themselves.

Day 19 - Model the transformational behavior desired everywhere

Showing, sharing, and being an advocate is an effort all too often ignored or overlooked. You and your teams need to model transformation to all audiences in a way that pulses the purpose and promotes the outcomes of successful transformation. Think about the lessons your team learned, share your successes and failures across the organization, and make it easier for other teams to journey down the innovation path.

Day 20 - Keep the innovation pump primed

Every company needs a digital innovation engine. It’s not good enough to simply have random ideas. Companies need ideas constantly. The ideas should not be random, but should be fixated against frictions and focused on the value they will bring to your business and customers. Ask yourself what you have learned, how will you best measure the success of your transformation and how will this prepare you to plan for the next step in your journey.
